The Nova Scotia Department of Environment and Labour the latest revision to the Domestic Fuel Oil Spill policy in December of 2005. This revision reflects changes in remedial criteria based on RBCA version 2.0.
The revised policy is available for download below.
This policy was developed for the clean-up of domestic sites defined as dwellings with less than 3 units and uses Atlantic RBCA Tier I criteria to allow for simple and effective clean-ups. The ability to utilize the full Atlantic RBCA toolkit is contained within the Policy, and the Department has developed guidance on the full use of RBCA at domestic sites, also available for download below.
In addition, a Registry of Domestic Fuel Oil Spill Licensed Site Professionals and Certified Clean-up Contractors is available. Visit the NS Dept. of Environment and Labour website at: www.gov.ns.ca/enla/services.htm#D and look under Domestic Fuel oil spills.
