(En anglais seulement)
Vapour intrusion has emerged as an important but complex environmental issue and is a pathway of potential concern at many brownfields or contaminated sites. Nevertheless, vapour intrusion remains a mysterious subject to many people.
This one-and-a-half day workshop, taught by leading experts, will build upon the Atlantic RCBA Guidance on Soil Vapour and Indoor Air Monitoring (July 2006), and will provide an effective combination of theory and practical knowledge, through presentations, class exercises, discussions and hands-on demonstrations.
The focus of the workshop will be latest methods for soil vapour and indoor air sampling and analysis, as well as other important topics that are part of the vapour intrusion assessment and management process, such as conceptual site models, soil vapour sampling design, and low cost sampling and analytical methods. Mitigation strategies - such as vapour barriers, venting systems and other mechanical solutions - will also be addressed. Several case studies illustrating the vapour intrusion assessment and management process will be presented. The workshop will also include demonstrations of quality control tests such as helium leak testing and vacuum check testing, and different sampling methods (Summa canisters, sorbent tubes).
Course notes and checklists for soil vapour sampling programs will be provided to each participant. Registration includes all refreshment breaks and lunch on Day 2.
